Seniors Home Security Program

You are eligible for home security improvements under the Seniors Home Security Program if you are a home owner or renter age 65+ and:

• Your annual household net income is $ 35,000* or less.
• You've been the victim of a break and enter or a home invasion.

*Program eligibility income levels are set according to the provincial government's housing income levels and may be subject to change.  

The Seniors Home Security Program has a list of approved service providers who will perform a safety assessment of your home. If you need them, the service provider can install the following home safety improvements:

• Deadbolts
• Door viewers
• Smoke alarms
• Carbon monoxide alarms
• Smoke alarm batteries

Both the service provider's safety assessment and the safety equipment installed in your home are free! 

An application form is attached to the program brochure or the application form can be downloaded below. To apply, fill out the application form and consent letter and include a copy of your most recent Canada Revenue Agency notice of assessment and submit all three to:

Upon your approval for a home safety assessment, a member of the Seniors Home Security Program staff will contact you with your service provider information. Simply contact that service provider and set up an appointment that is mutually convenient for your assessment. At the same time, they will install the safety equipment that you have been approved for by the program - at no cost to you.
